Cowtown Speedway - Topless 100
10/7/2006
A bit of off-topic news first, congratulations to Sam15.com for picking up the ASCS
Sooner Region Championship Saturday night at South Coffeyville, OK and to
KevinRamey.com for tying for 2nd place in Series points - way to go on a long and
hard-fought season!

Back to the Topless 100. George White broke a rear end Friday night in the feature
driving
Ronny Cook's car, so he started in the 8th or 9th row of the B-feature. Here's a
clip of him catching race leader Jared Webb towards the end of the race.

If you click on the video links below, please be patient; to do this on the web
at a decent resolution, the file sizes are large. Unless you have at least DSL,
don't try to open them, as you will be waiting for quite a while for it to open.
They are QuickTime media files, and if you need a copy of the software, just
download it at www.quicktime.com (it's free).
Video Clip #1
B-feature battle with Jared Webb (15) and George White (81). Jared
would have a really solid run during the night eventually finishing
3rd in the Topless 100.
This clip is 22MB, so it will take a while to
load - be patient! Work on something else while it downloads if you
have a slow speed connection, you can also replay after it is
finished. FYI: It took about 4 minutes to load on my office DSL
connection.
The following clips were shot from the corner 3 stands pit side during the Topless
100. Definitely a different view, plus all of the lights shine that direction, but it didn't
seem to affect the video clips too much, and you really get a good look at the cars
working coming off of corner 2. The racing was really clean with about 17 cars
finishing the 100 laps.
Video Clip #2
Lap 10 (or so) restart showing the cars coming off of corner 2 and
down the backstretch.
This clip is 9MB, so it will take a while to load
- be patient! Work on something else while it downloads if you have
a slow speed connection, you can also replay after it is finished.
FYI: It took about 2 minutes to load on my office DSL connection.
Video Clip #3
A lap around the track with George White, he was up to about 5th at
this point in the race, which was around lap 15. As you can see the
track was very slick at this point, and shortly after getting into 4th
place, George spun and had to restart 21st.
This clip is 16MB, so it
will take a while to load - be patient! Work on something else while
it downloads if you have a slow speed connection, you can also
replay after it is finished. FYI: It took about 3 minutes to load on my
office DSL connection.
Video Clip #4
Around lap 65 of the feature race, restart and George White was
trying to work his way back through the field and was mid-pack at
this point.

Video Clip #5
Around lap 80 of the feature race, restart, George White was now
on the move, and had passed several more cars.
This clip is 10MB,

while it downloads if you have a slow speed connection, you can

Video Clip #6
Lap 98 and first half of final lap. It was fun watching George move
through the pack and was now up to 3rd place. Going down the
backstretch he got next to the 2nd place car when the clip ends. We
didn't know it was the last lap on the backstretch, but he made a
hard move on the bottom to pass the 2nd place car coming down
for the checkers...and spun, dropping him to 14th. He definitely
made the race exiting, anyway!

See you at the Devil's Bowl Winter Nationals next weekend!
(or if you can't make it, you come here to view some highlights!)
A packed house was on hand for a great night of racing.
There's something about modifieds racing topless that really
appeals to me. It's probably that you can see the driver working in
the car a lot better. Here's a shot of Jimmy Littlejohn prior to the race.
