If you click on the video links below, please be patient; to do this on the web at a
decent resolution, the file sizes are large. Unless you have at least DSL, don't try to
open them, as you will be waiting for quite a while for it to open. They are QuickTime
media files, and if you need a free copy of the software, just download it at
www.quicktime.com (it's free).
And remember, you can scroll the clips in 1/30th
second increments by using the scroll bar at the bottom of the clips.

NOTE: On this night, flood lights in the pit area really screwed with my camera every
once and a while, so are some spots that momentarily go out of focus...

Well, it's time to get away and go for a 'tour.' This week I'll be visiting some friends and
business clients
( RaceNodak.com, DakotaTrackSide.com, OlsonTowing.com
and
wo57.com )up in North Dakota.

This week is the annual Dacotah Modified and Stock Car Classic Tour that covers 6
straight nights of racing at 5 different tracks. The tour starts on July 6.

I'll be posting some pictures and video clips on this page from the 'tour' so make sure
to check back daily for updates.

We'll start by an unexpected 'bonus' race that I stumbled onto along the way...

While driving down I-94 west of Fargo, I caught a radio ad for Jamestown Speedway -
which was only 40 miles away - and that there was a sprint car special. And since it
was on the way to Minot and was early, I decided to swing by and catch the action.

It was a perfect night for racing, and although the races started very early - from the
sun's standpoint - the track held up very well throughout the night. About 20 NOSA 410
Sprint Cars were on hand, including several cars that I've seen at Huset's and Jackson
over the years. So it was fun to see them race.

We'll start off with a 'quickie' panoramic shot so you can get a bit of a feel for what the
1/4 mile hi-banked Jamestown Speedway looks like. If you click on the picture, it will
open up into a much larger shot:
Here's are some more pictures:
Winnepeg's Lou Kennedy, Jr
Fargo's Mike Sitzmann
Note: And depending on your web browser, when it opens, you may be able to click it again, and it may blow up even larger yet.
And here are some pictures from the Nodak Speedway for the
start of the Dacotah Modified & Stock Car Classic Tour 7/6/08:
Minot's wo57.com, Wyatt Olson in hot laps.
Aaron Turnbull in hot laps.

Video Clip #5
Here's a clip of modified b-feature action from Nodak Speedway. This
will give you a good feel for the track, and this clip is a little over 1 lap.

minutes to load on my office DSL connection.
DakotaTrackSide.com is the sponsor for the IMCA Stock Car portion of the Tour.
Iowa's Rich Lewerke in the H20 and Kansas' David Murray get ready for hot laps.
Monday night we ventured into Canada for the tour stop
at                                Estevan Speedway. About 52 IMCA modifieds and 26
IMCA                  stock cars were on hand. A large crowd was on hand, and
braved high winds and cool temperatures - hard to believe for July! But
the races were really good with lots of passing and side by side action.

Here's a quick panoramic of the track. For a larger view, click on image.

Tuesday, July 8 was at Williston Basin Speedway for night 3 of the
Dacotah Modified & Stock Car Classic Tour. The tour continues there
again tonight.

Before we go to the track pictures, there's a lot of nice scenery in the
area. If you haven't been up here, this is a taste of what it looks like.
Here's a quick panoramic of Williston Basin Speedway. If you click on the
image it will open up in a much larger size, so you can see more detail.
note: the 9x is the car Rich Lewerke is
driving (the car in front of the 2nd 9).

First off, this is one huge dog! 250# 'Bear' is

Blaine sponsors several drivers in the area.
The wo57.com team can't seem to catch a break this
week. Here they are surveying damage after getting
crashed in a qualifying race.
The crowd at Williston Basin Speedway - from those of you
that don't live up north: this picture was taken at 10PM!
Thursday, July 10 the Tour traveled south to Dickinson ND for night 5 of the
Dacotah Modified & Stock Car Classic Tour.
On the way to Dickinson from Williston, you have to go through the ND
Badlands. Here's a couple of good shots - it's really a nice drive.

Here's some pictures from the facility taken on a crazy weather day, that
saw temps near 100 with very high winds.
The unkind weather lead to a rough night for many drivers. Here's a few
action shots from the night. ND's Ben Seidler would pick up the feature win.
Friday, July 11th was the final stop on the '08 Dacotah Modified Tour. I'm
just going to put up a few pictures, as I had to leave the track early to
catch a flight. Another good field of cars and fans were on hand.
note: these pictures
were taken a few
hours before
racetime.
